Behind the Scenes with Chimpanzees
This VIP Tour begins at 3 p.m. and takes you behind the scenes to visit the Chimpanzees' night quarters and outdoor, off-exhibit facilities. During your tour, you will talk with the chimps' caretakers and see how they interact with and train the chimpanzees to participate in their own care. This hour-long experience will also demonstrate some of the techniques that the caretakers use to enrich the lives of these powerful and potentially dangerous animals.

Pricing: $104.25 each for Zoo Society Members; $119.25 each for non-members
Tour Logistics: This tour begins at 3 p.m. when you meet your Zoo Society tour guide at the lower viewing area in the BB&T Chimpanzee Reserve. Your guide will escort you behind the scenes to meet several of the chimps’ caretakers, observe a training session, and see how the caretakers and chimps interact.
Tour Regulations: Children must be at least 12 years old to attend this tour. Children younger than 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult. The size of this tour is limited to six people. Please note that VIP passes do not cover admission fees to enter the North Carolina Zoo.
ADA Status: This tour is ADA accessible but does require a short walk over an uneven substrate. Please use the "Special Instructions" section of the order form to let us know if you may need assistance to bypass this area.
