This year's ornament shines a spotlight on the tropical aviary by featuring a bird and a plant that inhabit this tropical exhibit. The bird is the Chilean Flamingo. The plant is the Flamingo Flower, a rosy colored Anthurium that blooms all year inside the building.

The Zoo Society's 2021 ornament, like so many of the its previous decorations, was designed and handcrafted by North Carolina artist Chris Gabriel. The 25.99 cost covers shipping.
