Tour Description:
Join Zoo Society tour guides on this after-hours walk into the park to howl at the Red Wolves and listen for them to howl back! Don’t be surprised, though, to hear other animals as well – frogs calling in the spring, an elk bugling in the fall, and, with a bit of luck, lions roaring any time of the year. Guests may also catch a glimpse of native wildlife wandering through the Park.
This relaxed tour unfolds as a comfortable stroll up to the prairie habitat where guests can gaze at elk and bison while learning how the Zoo’s dedicated staff contributes to ongoing efforts to save the highly endangered American Red Wolf from extinction. If all goes well, the howls we elicit from our guests will unleash a return chorus of calls from the Zoo’s sequestered and protected breeding population of red wolves—the second-largest collection of American Red Wolves in existence.
